Authorities seek the public’s help in finding a driver who fled the scene of a deadly crash in Vista on March 7.
The incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday when a bicyclist came in contact with two cars at the intersection of South Melrose and Buena Vista drives, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The first driver bumped into the cyclist but remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to a Sheriff’s Department report. The second driver struck the cyclist and fled northbound on South Melrose Drive. Investigators say the second motorist was believed to have been driving a white crossover-type vehicle or SUV.
Vista Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department units arrived on the scene, where they pronounced the cyclist dead, authorities stated. The victim and drivers were not identified.
