A man was killed in San Marcos on Tuesday, Jan. 23, when his car collided with another near the intersection of West San Marcos Boulevard and Discovery Street, authorities reported.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. as the 26-year-old unidentified driver was traveling in a 2019 Subaru Forester eastbound on West San Marcos Boulevard and entered another lane, striking a Porsche, according to a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department report. The collision caused the Subaru to roll onto its roof.
Although there were no specifics given about any injuries to the driver of the Porsche, the driver of the Subaru died of his injuries at Palomar Medical Center after San Marcos Fire Department paramedics removed him from the vehicle and transported him for medical treatment, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the death and has not identified the crash victim.
The Sheriff’s Department’s San Marcos Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Investigators do not believe that alcohol was involved in the collision, authorities stated. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the San Marcos Traffic Unit at 760-510-5200.
