Leasing is underway and the first residents have moved into Luma at El Corazon, a 268-unit apartment community that is the first such residential development to open in El Corazon, a growing area of Oceanside that includes Frontwave Arena.
Monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment starts at $2,790, developer Sudberry Properties stated in a news release at the end of January announcing Luma’s opening.
The development is made up of 23 three-story buildings with 113 one-bedroom, 120 two-bedroom and 35 three-bedroom apartments surrounding a recreation center and pool complex. The residences feature spacious designs and modern finishes. There are 11 floor plans, ranging from 691 to 1,440 square feet, all of which include an outdoor deck, balcony or patio.
“In keeping with the overall architectural theme of El Corazon, the design of Luma has been influenced by Irving Gill, a noted architect and leader of the early 20th-century modernist movement, who designed the Oceanside City Hall and Fire Station,” Sudberry noted in its news release. “Luma at El Corazon reflects the clean angular lines, ground-level arches and breezeways Gill is known for.”
In addition to nearby Frontwave Arena, residents have convenient access to El Corazon’s recreational amenities such as the William A. Wagner Aquatic Center, two hiking trails, El Corazon Senior Center and the SoCal Sports Complex.
The site of El Corazon was transferred to the city of Oceanside in 1994 after the the closure of a U.S. Silica sand mine after more than 60 years of operation. In 2011, the City Council approved Sudberry Properties/Soccer Field of Dreams as the area’s developer.
Luma at El Corazon is located at 3546 Village Commercial Drive in Oceanside.
