The Oceanside Police Department’s Community Academy returns with new sessions beginning Jan. 14, the city recently announced.
The initiative aims to foster stronger ties between law enforcement and the community, according to a city news release. Participants can learn about police operations with the goal of building collaboration and transparency.
“The Community Academy offers participants an immersive experience, allowing them to learn first hand about various police divisions and their roles in ensuring community safety,” the city’s news release stated. “Sessions will cover patrol operations, investigations, community policing, and other relevant topics.”
There will be eight weekly sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Jan. 14. Oceanside residents age 18 and above are eligible to apply. The academy is free to attend.
