The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an emergency plane landing in Oceanside on Thursday, Sept. 26, that led to the discovery of a large amount of narcotics, authorities reported.
Two Oceanside residents, both occupants of the plane, were arrested on suspicion of transportation of narcotics, according to an Oceanside Police Department report.
The small plane made an emergency landing just before 1:45 a.m. on State Route 78 near Canyon Drive after its pilot reported engine problems, according to the Oceanside Police Department. No injuries were reported on the ground or to the occupants of the plane.
A search of the plane uncovered a large quantity of narcotics, reportedly cocaine, authorities said. The pilot and passenger were taken into custody. The Oceanside Police Department’s report did not name the suspects.
