OsideNewsAuthorities identified a suspect on Tuesday, June 7, in the weekend shooting death of an Oceanside woman.

The Oceanside Police Department seeks 25-year-old Vicente Huerta in connection with the death of 22-year-old Chelsea Pacheco on Saturday, June 4, the department stated in a report.

Officers found Pacheco with a single gunshot wound to her upper body upon responding to a call for medical aid at Bush and Archer streets in Oceanside at 11:44 a.m. June 4, according to the Police Department’s report. Pacheco was taken to Tri-City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Oceanside police detectives determined that Pacheco was shot while she and a group of friends were in a vehicle at the intersection and got into an argument with a pedestrian. The suspect allegedly shot at the vehicle when the group drove off, authorities stated. One round went through the rear of the vehicle and hit Pacheco.

Authorities described Huerta as a Latino man, 6-foot-3, between 200 and 230 pounds, with a shaved head, an undescribed tattoo over his right eyebrow and a large “3” tattoo on the top of his head.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s location is asked to call police Detective Dave Estrada at 760-435-4698.
