Shelter to Soldier, a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post-9/11 veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma and/or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences, hosted its 12th Annual Be the Light Gala on Aug. 18 at L’Auberge Del Mar.
Presented by Subaru USA, the event raised $289,821 in funds to benefit Shelter to Soldier’s programs serving veterans and homeless dogs.
The evening featured a musical performance by the Tim Apple Band, hors d’oeuvres and drinks, a three-course dinner with Pacific Ocean views, event swag bags and special moments with veteran recipients and the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors therapy dog team. The event also included a silent and live auction, emceed by Clint Bell.
As Shelter to Soldier’s largest annual fundraiser, the Be the Light Gala, plays a key role in generating essential funds to support the rescue dogs and veterans served by the program. Other major sponsors included Platinum Sponsor C.W.
