A Sprinter train struck a Ford F-150 truck July 28 in Oceanside, authorities reported.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the non-injury collision occurred near the 1100 block of Oceanside Boulevard at 3:23 p.m. when the truck driver’s foot slipped off the break, causing the truck to roll forward at an intersection where the crossing gates were down and warnings were activated.
The train operator applied emergency breaks but was unable to avoid the truck, according to a Sheriff’s Department incident report. The truck sustained moderate front-end damage and the train sustained light damage.
Sheriff’s Rail Enforcement deputies investigated the incident, the report stated. The Sprinter rail line is operated by the North County Transit District.
