Additional trains throughout region to Downtown L.A. in anticipation of large crowds
Oceanside CA— In an effort to reduce roadway congestion resulting from heavier than normal traffic to downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, Metrolink will increase service by adding 12 additional trains throughout Southern California. Funding for the increased service is being provided by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).
The march is expected to outnumber last year’s attendance and cause serious congestion on streets and freeways. Public transit is recommended as an alternative to driving.
Complementing its regularly scheduled weekend service, Metrolink will add trains on its San Bernardino and Antelope Valley lines. Metrolink will also add service on the Ventura County line between Chatsworth and Los Angeles, which normally does not operate on weekends. Attendees can take advantage of Metrolink’s $10 Weekend Day Pass, which includes unlimited rides and free transfers to the Metro Rail system. Tickets can be purchased at ticket vending machines located at Metrolink stations and through the mobile app. Metrolink strongly recommends using the mobile app for more efficient ticketing and convenience. In addition, Metrolink recommends arriving early in anticipation of the expected high attendance. For more information about the mobile app, please visit www.metrolinktrains.com/app.
At Los Angeles Union Station, Metrolink riders can transfer for free to the Metro Red and Purple subway lines to access the start of the march at Pershing Square.
