Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside Planning Division will host a public workshop for the South Morro Hills Community Plan (SMHCP) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in the City Council Chambers at 300 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Virtual attendance will also be available via Zoom.
The SMHCP is an extension of Oceanside’s General Plan Update currently underway, and includes goals and policies to guide future land use and development within the South Morro Hills area. The SMHCP seeks to preserve farmland by accommodating agritourism and housing while preserving agricultural resources and facilitating the long-term viability of farming operations. The draft policy framework for the SMHCP was first introduced to the Planning Commission and City Council as workshop discussion items in Spring 2021.
As the next phase of public outreach, this design-based workshop will focus on obtaining community input for the preparation of the SMHCP, and “brainstorming” on site planning and design strategies for farmland conservation.
