Oceanside CA— Sunday evening, January 23, 2022 at 6:30pm, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2700 block of Oceanside Blvd.
The first arriving engine reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of a small single-story residence. Previous EMS calls to this residence led crews to believe there was a potential rescue. Fire crews pulled hose lines inside the front and rear of the structure to perform a search for victims while extinguishing the fire.
A coordinated ventilation effort from crews on the roof allowed interior crews to quickly suppress the fire.
After performing a search of the residence, no one was found inside; however, the homeowner was later discovered at the neighbor’s house and was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries. The fire crews were able to control and extinguish the fire in approximately 22 minutes.
Overhaul of the structure took an additional 30 minutes.
No firefighters were injured on the incident.
A duty fire investigator was called to the scene and the fire is currently under investigation for cause and origin.
