Update 03/01/2021: The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy today and has identified the victim as sixty-two-year-old David Nathaniel Caballero. Caballero is a resident of Fallbrook. The victim’s family has been notified of his death. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wound. The manner of his death is still under investigation.
Fallbrook CA— On Sunday night, February 28, 2021, at approximately 8:20pm, San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3800 block of Alta Vista Drive in Fallbrook for a report of a multi-vehicle accident. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot.

Fire personnel transported the male to a local area hospital. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.
