Carlsbad CA— The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling a scheduled vacancy on the City of Carlsbad Beach Preservation Commission to complete the term through June 2024. Applications for this volunteer position are available on the city’s website or in the City Clerk’s Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by noon on Aug. 31.
The commission investigates and reports on topics or studies related to beach and bluff erosion, including lagoons and jetties, as directed by the City Manager and City Council.
The commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the majority vote of the City Council to serve four-year terms. The current vacancy will fulfill the term through June 2024.
The Beach Preservation Commission normally meets at 4 p.m. the second Tuesday of every even numbered month at City Council Chambers at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive or as directed via teleconferencing.
Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and registered to vote in Carlsbad. Commission members are required to complete two hours of ethics training every two years and file a Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700 annual statement of economic interests. This statement, which is a public document, details a person’s financial interests such as property ownership and business ownership.
