Oceanside CA— On June 4th 2020, a plate glass window at the newly opened “Bliss Tea & Treats” located at 301 Mission Ave, Oceanside was shattered at around 7:10 PM. The owner of the business had placed signage in the window that read, “Black Owned, We Stand With You”.
The suspect drove by and shot out the window with a pellet gun causing over $1800.00 in damages. Surveillance video led Detectives to identifying the vehicle used in the crime and eventually to the suspect. Once Detectives had enough probable cause to make an arrest, he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 23-year-old, Steve Soto of Carlsbad. During the interview Soto confessed to this crime along with several other crimes including shooting a disabled man in the face with the pellet gun, violation of an Emergency Protective Order (EPO) and several other acts of vandalism that included shooting out windows in both vehicles and occupied dwellings. Soto was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple charges.
