Oceanside CA— Just after 10:00pm, February 29, 2020, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to reports of a traffic collision on El Camino Real and Fire Mountain Rd.
Oceanside Engine 213 (E213) arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved, two with major damage. E213 upgraded the response to a rescue response and added an additional 4 ambulances, bringing the total ambulances responded to 5. An additional engine and truck were also dispatched to assist in treating and extricating patients.
In total six patients were transported to local hospitals. There were three major trauma patients and three minor acuity patients.
Scripps La Jolla received two major trauma patients (one male 30s, one female 30s), one of whom was flown via air ambulance and one minor acuity patient (female 30s). Palomar received one major trauma patient (female 20s). Tri-City Hospital and Scripps Encinitas received the other two minor acuity patients (male 30s and female 30s respectively).
Oceanside Police Department is conducting the investigation to the cause of the collision.
Units from Carlsbad and Vista Fire Departments assisted in this incident.
