Oceanside CA— On Monday, January 27, 2020 just after 9:00pm, Oceanside and Camp Pendleton fire units were dispatched to a reported fire at Marina Del Mar Resort in the Oceanside Harbor. The first arriving engine company (Oceanside Engine 211) arrived five minutes after dispatch and encountered smoke coming from a third-floor apartment.
The unit’s resident claimed his family was out for a walk down by the beach and returned to heavy smoke and flames coming from the kitchen in the unit. He grabbed the fire hose from the fixed box in the hallway of the complex and stretched the line to his unit to extinguish the fire. Arriving fire companies entered the unit and pulled ceiling material to expose the attic to check for any extension.
The fire was declared out with no extension within 12 minutes of the initial alarm.
Units stayed on scene to perform salvage and overhaul.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Oceanside Fire Department’s Duty Fire Investigator. No residents or fire personnel were injured during the incident.
Three residents will be displaced until the unit can be restored.
