$1 rides in San Diego County all week long (Sept. 30 – Oct. 4)
San Diego County CA— The SANDAG iCommute program has partnered with Waze Carpool to encourage commuters in the region to reimagine their commute and share the ride during Rideshare Week, September 30 through October 4.
To celebrate, Waze Carpool will offer $1 carpool rides in San Diego County the first work week in October. Any trip starting or ending within county lines will be $1 through the app, no promo code required.
“This partnership with Waze Carpool is an amazing opportunity for San Diegans to give carpooling a try at a very low cost,” said SANDAG Chair and Poway Mayor Steve Vaus. “Carpooling is a great way to reduce traffic congestion in our region.”
Waze Carpool is a ridesharing app that matches drivers and riders who travel the same direction to work or home. Drivers pick up passengers and are reimbursed for gas money. Riders pay drivers through the Waze Carpool app.
In celebration of Rideshare Week, Waze Carpool will cover the full expense of the driver’s ride and the rider will only pay $1 per ride. New users will receive $20 in Waze Carpool credit after completing their first ride.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with SANDAG to help alleviate traffic by significantly reducing the number of cars on the road in San Diego,” said Mona Weng, Partnerships Lead for Southern California & Pacific Northwest, Waze Carpool. “By offering $1 flat carpool rides throughout Rideshare Week, we hope more San Diego County commuters will be encouraged to consider Waze Carpool as a viable transportation option.”
SANDAG and Waze Carpool recently renewed their partnership agreement in an effort to increase the number of new carpools in the San Diego region.
In addition to Waze Carpool, transit partners MTS and NCTD will bring back Free Ride Day on Wednesday, October 2, in conjunction with California Clean Air Day. Commuters can try a Trolley, bus, or COASTER commute for free that day on any fixed route.
SANDAG invites commuters to reimagine their commute this Rideshare Week by choosing a carpool, transit, or vanpool commute. Commuters who share their Rideshare Week story on the designated iCommute Facebook post will be entered to win an iPad.
