Public and Private Industry Experts Share Insights on Strategies to Develop a New Transportation Vision

San Diego County CA— SANDAG is hosting a series of five, 45-minute webinars to discuss the 5 Big Moves. These strategies set the framework for a bold new transportation vision for San Diego Forward: The 2021 Regional Plan, which will enhance connectivity, increase safety and sustainability, and improve quality of life.
The 2021 Regional Plan will synchronize the 5 Big Moves – Complete Corridors, Transit Leap, Mobility Hubs, Flexible Fleets, and Next OS – to deliver an integrated, world class transportation system.
The next webinar will focus on the Transit Leap and will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 12 p.m. PDT.
The Transit Leap webinar will explore how a variety of transit services, from high-speed transit to autonomous buses, can work together to provide fast, reliable, personalized, and efficient transit choices.
Industry expert guest speakers will discuss how private and public sectors are embracing innovations across the world to improve the movement of people and goods.
Transit Leap webinar guest speakers include:

• Katie Chalmers, Service Planning Supervisor, King County Metro
• Ben Porritt, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Virgin Trains

With more than 13 years of experience in the transit industry, Katie oversees more than 200 bus routes and works closely with communities to improve service and deploy more flexible mobility services where fixed-route service is not a good fit.
Ben oversees government relations, communications, and culture at Virgin Trains. Previously, Ben served as a partner of Outside Eyes, a communications strategy agency, and served on three presidential campaigns including 2012, 2008, and 2004.
