Vista CA— Vista Unified School District (VUSD) Superintendent Dr. Linda Kimble invites members of the public to attend a Superintendent Advisory Committee Meeting on Project Labor Agreements on Thursday, June 20 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the District Office Board Room located 1234 Arcadia Avenue in Vista.
On June 11, the VUSD Board of Education issued a public notice stating at the Sept. 12 Board meeting, the Board desires to consider the use of a project labor agreement for one or more construction projects using Measure LL funds. The notification to the public of consideration of adopting project labor agreements complies with Board Policy 7112 of notifying the public at least 90 days in advance of consideration.
To ensure collaboration and collective partnership with clear two-way dialogue, the superintendent is holding the advisory committee meeting to encourage the public’s involvement in the future of the District.
A Project Labor Agreement is a pre-hire collective bargaining agreement with one or more labor organizations that establishes the terms and conditions of employment for a specific construction project. Before any workers are hired on a project, construction unions have bargaining rights to determine the wage rates and benefits of all employees working on the particular project and to agree to the provisions of the agreement.
