Oceanside CA— This afternoon, Monday June 3, 2019 at approximately 12:30 PM Oceanside Police, Fire Department and Life Guards responded to a reported body in the surf line south of the Pier.
The body of a male was recovered and will be released to the Medical Examiner.
The San Diego County Medical Examiners Office is responsible for identification and notification of the victims family.
It is unknown at this time if this incident is related to the May 25, 2019 incident when fire units were dispatched to a reported victim in the water at the Oceanside Pier. Six minutes after dispatch Engine 211 and Rescue Ambulance 211 arrived on scene. Oceanside Police Department units were already on scene and the Harbor PD Rescue Boat was just off the North side of the Pier.
One victim was seen in the water clinging to a pylon. As the rescue boat was backing in an OPD rescue swimmer entered the water. Simultaneously the victim let go of the pylon and went under water.
A search was conducted in the general area where the victim was last seen but he was not located. Oceanside Lifeguards, OPD Harbor Boat personnel and the United States Coast Guard took part in the search.
