Oceanside CA— Just after 3:30 this morning, May 25, 2019 fire units were dispatched to a reported victim in the water at the Oceanside Pier. Six minutes after dispatch Engine 211 and Rescue Ambulance 211 arrived on scene. Oceanside Police Department units were already on scene and the Harbor PD Rescue Boat was just off the North side of the Pier.
One victim was seen in the water clinging to a pylon. As the rescue boat was backing in an OPD rescue swimmer entered the water. Simultaneously the victim let go of the pylon and went under water.
A search was conducted in the general area where the victim was last seen and continues at the time of this press release. Oceanside Lifeguards, OPD Harbor Boat personnel and the United States Coast Guard took part in the search. At the time of this release the victim had not been located.
