Oceanside CA— Raquel Parizeau was crowned Miss Oceanside and Madison Matella was crowned Miss Teen Oceanside during the annual Scholarship Pageant sponsored by the Oceanside Sea Lions, which took place last night, March 30, 2019, at the James Truax Performing Arts Center. Twenty-four girls competed for the titles and scholarships with Brian Graham as the Master of Ceremonies.
Carmen Gagliardi, Bella Teta and Ariana Tahmas who was also voted Miss Congeniality are the Princesses in Miss Oceanside’s Court. Jiselle Banuelos, Marlie Wright and Miss Congeniality, Kassidy Betz are this years Princesses for Miss Teen Oceanside’s Court.
The theme for the night ‘A Night of Dreams’ began with a contestant opening number, followed by contestants appearing in theme wear and evening gowns. The ROTC from El Camino High School escorted the contestants.
Entertainment was provided by the El Camino Dance Team. There was an impromptu question on stage for all of the contestants in the pageant.
All proceeds from the pageant go to scholarships and other Lions charities. Proceeds from the People’s Choice Award will be given to Rady Children’s Hospital for childhood cancer.
The queens and their princesses become goodwill ambassadors for the City of Oceanside, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and the Oceanside Sea Lions and appear throughout the year at city events, ribbon cuttings, and Oceanside Chamber Mixers.
