Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Public Library will be hosting The Glassless Minds Community Writing Workshop on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. beginning February 28. The first meeting will be held in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms and subsequent meetings will be held in the Foundation Room; both are located 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside.
The writing workshop promotes storytelling and personal narrative through literary arts and the act of creative expression. The workshop also provides a safe space in which the community will learn various writing techniques, tips, tricks, and forms of writing.
Instructors will guide the community through creative writing prompts centered on identity, self-reflection, personal narrative, and affirmation. Creative work produced in the workshop will build ownership and empowerment of voice around one’s own cultural upbringing, promoting awareness and respect.
Community members will have an option to share their stories at the end of each workshop and be given constructive feedback and encouragement.
No writing experience necessary. This free program is sponsored by Glassless Minds, a community-based group, and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. For more information about Library programs and services, please visit www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600.
