Bonsall CA— Early this morning, January 1, 2019 just before 4:00, a 25-year-old male from Massachusetts/ Camp Pendleton was driving a Lexus IS 300 the wrong way, eastbound in the westbound number 1 lane, of SR-76 near Via Monserate.

A Suzuki motorcycle being ridden by an unidentified male was also traveling westbound in the number 1 lane of SR-76. The vehicles collided head-on killing the motorcycle rider. A third vehicle was involved after striking debris from the initial collision.
The driver of the Lexus received minor scratches from the collision and was transported to Palomar Medical Center. It was determined that the Lexus driver was impaired and was arrested.
The westbound lanes of SR-76 were affected from the time of the collision to approximately 7:00am.
