Encinitas CA— This morning, August 14, 2018 at approximately 6:30, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department advised the California Highway Patrol of a female pedestrian that had been struck and killed by a vehicle on the 1-5 Northbound to Encinitas Boulevard exit ramp. The body of the 62-year-old female was located on right shoulder of the ramp.
No vehicle was present at the scene. Physical evidence discovered at the scene indicates that a Ford F-150 or Ford Expedition similar to those pictured above, unknown color, model date range of 1995-2002 was possibly involved in the collision. The vehicle will have sustained front end damage.
The time of the collision is still under investigation.
The ramp was closed to traffic during the scene investigation from approximately 6:30 AM until approximately 9:00 AM.
The area adjacent to the collision scene was searched by CHP units for the vehicle.
