Carlsbad CA— On Monday evening, March 6, 2018 at 6:31pm, the Carlsbad Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a male reporting that he was going to commit suicide in the 2500 block of Navarra Dr. in the City of Carlsbad.

Carlsbad Police Officers responded to the area and located a 71-year-old deceased male and a 79-year-old deceased female, both had suffered visible gunshot wounds. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Both the male and female are residents of Carlsbad. Their names are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The preliminary investigation tends to indicate that the male and female were married to each other and each were suffering from a different medical condition. There are no outstanding suspects in this investigation at this time.
Carlsbad Police Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
