Carlsbad CA— The City of Carlsbad is now accepting applications for its spring 2018 Citizens Academy. The free, seven-week course meets weekly starting March 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., except one daytime citywide bus tour. View the spring 2018 schedule.
- The academy gives residents an up close look at how the city functions, including the current status and future plans for Carlsbad’sdevelopment, traffic, growth management, recreation, the environment and other topics
- Participants will have an opportunity to meet City Council members and city staff as well as get a behind-the-scenes tour of key city operations.
- The academy is free to Carlsbad residents 15 years and older. Class size is limited, and spaces fill up quickly. Call 760-434-2800 for information and registration.

Citizens Academy is held twice a year, in the spring and fall. Applications are accepted year round, and participants are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants who do not get scheduled for the next session will be placed on an enrollment list for future sessions.
The City of Carlsbad began offering the Citizens Academy in 2001 as a way to familiarize residents with their city government. To date, more than 1,500 residents have participated in the program.
