Oceanside CA— Oceanside City Council Meeting Brief for January 10, 2018.
The Oceanside City Council will continue the discussion on whether fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mayor Jim Wood with an appointment or add the position of mayor to the June Primary election or the November General Election at the January 24 meeting. The Council has sixty-days, from the first of January, to appoint someone or get the issue set for election.
The City will issue a release regarding different ways residents can make their opinions known about election options, appointments and how someone interested in being appointed to the position can make their intentions known.
The Council unanimously approved a resolution brought by Deputy Mayor Lowery and Council-member Sanchez showing the City of Oceanside’s support of transgendered members of the Armed Forces.
Council approved two development plans. One will allow the demolition of an existing single-family residence and enable the construction of a three-story, three-unit residential condominium complex located 508 North Tremont, Street – North Tremont Street Condominiums and the other will allow the development of a three-unit residential townhome condominium complex located 812 North Cleveland Street – North Cleveland Street Condominiums.
The Council unanimously approved three ordinances that were brought forth in the December 20, 2017 meeting regarding:
- amending Chapter 29 Article IX of the Oceanside City Code to regulate commercial kitchen grease disposal
- amending Chapter 29 Article X to regulate discharge into the City sewer system,
- amending Chapter 37 Article I to repeal Section 37.37.1 which is a duplicate of Section 37.35 and Article II, Section 37.56 to determine meter size requirements based on the latest standards set by the California Plumbing Code and American Water Works Association
