Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College’s Community education offers a variety of enrichment classes for older adults and our late fall courses are open for enrollment.
Fit, Sit & Stand for Active Older Adults
The goal of this class is to maintain/increase strength, balance and flexibility for all participants. Exercises include a short cardio/warm up, full body resistance exercises, balance and coordination exercises and muscle/joint specific stretches; all performed either standing or sitting in a chair. Movements are presented at various levels of intensity with modification, as needed, making it appropriate for all participants.
Fee: $50. Early Bird Special: $36 (Register before 11/14). Supplies: Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and supportive exercise shoes. Please bring towel and water. Location: Del Mar Powerhouse, Community Room. Note: Complimentary parking available until 11:15 a.m. at Jake’s Del Mar Restaurant. Time: 9 sessions. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11/14–12/14, 10–11 a.m. No class on 11/23.
Fitness for Active Older Adults
Work out with energetic, active adults. The exercises are specific for improving and maintaining quality of life and injury prevention. All participants are encouraged to challenge their individual fitness level to maintain and improve overall health. This class is geared to the senior exerciser seeking improved strength, vitality and an active lifestyle.
Supplies: Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and supportive exercise shoes. Please bring hand-held weights, towel, thick exercise mat and water to class. Most yoga mats are too thin for the floor work.
Fee: $24. Location: Del Mar Powerhouse, Community Room. Time: 6 sessions, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11/28–12/14, 9–10 a.m.
