Oceanside CA— This morning, Friday October 20, 2017, at 6:03, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a serious injury collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 200 Block of N. El Camino Real. Upon arrival, officers located a 91-year-old female lying in the southbound lanes of El Camino Real.
Based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, it appears that the female was crossing the road in between intersections across the southbound lanes of El Camino Real when she was struck by a vehicle, a 2013 Kia. At the time of the collision, it was still dark outside.
The pedestrian was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with potentially life threatening injuries. The motorist was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
