Oceanside CA— On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 3:17pm, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a single vehicle collision in the area of Oceanside Blvd and Garrison St. The collision occurred when a 1997 Ford Mustang, traveling eastbound on Oceanside Blvd, left the road and collided with a utility pole and some non-electrical wires.
The collision caused the vehicle to flip over onto its roof where it came to rest. The driver and sole occupant was removed from the vehicle by witnesses and transported to a local area hospital via air ambulance with major injuries.
This afternoon, August 11, 2017 at approximately 12:32pm, the driver, 76-year-old Marilyn Dungan of Oceanside, passed away from her injuries with her family by her side at the hospital. The investigation is still ongoing as to the cause of the collision. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
