Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday afternoon, June 4, 2017, at 3873 Sherbourne Drive, Apt U. The first Engine (2114) arrived on-scene 7-minutes after the initial dispatch. Upon arrival 2114 reported smoke showing from the 3rd story apartment.
Crews stretched hose lines to the 3rd story apartment to find a well involve fire in the family room. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and perform a search of the apartment for occupants. There were no occupants at home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters were able to open all adjacent apartments to check for extension, and ventilate all the smoke from the apartments.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of arrival on-scene and was contained to the apartment of origin with no spread to adjacent residences.
Only one resident was displaced and will be staying with friends.
Damage to the apartment was minimized as a result of the quick work of the first responding units.
An investigator with the Oceanside Fire Department responded to the scene to determine cause of the fire. The fire is still under investigation.
Carlsbad and Vista Fire Departments also assisted on the incident.
