Oceanside CA— AT&T* and Impact Teen Drivers have teamed up to help make California roads and communities safe this summer through the “Create Real Impact: It Can Wait Video Challenge.” The challenge invites teens across California to create an original Public Service Announcement (PSA) to educate their community about the dangers of reckless and distracted driving and to encourage safe driving habits during the “100 deadliest days for teen drivers,” according to the National Safety Council.
“AT&T wants every young person to have a safe and fulfilling summer,” said Ken McNeely, President of AT&T California. “Together with Impact Teen Drivers, we are highlighting the importance of safe driving and public safety with AT&T’s IT CAN WAIT campaign, a national movement urging drivers to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones.”
First responders play a vital role in helping to keep California communities safe and are often the first on the scene following a traffic collision. To recognize the contributions of first responders, teens are encouraged to include a first responder, as well as a message from AT&T’s IT CAN WAIT campaign, to win prizes. Prizes include a $500 education award and a $1,500 education award plus a trip to Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles to attend and be recognized at AT&T SHAPE, a Tech and Entertainment Expo, July 14-15, 2017.**
“Car crashes are the #1 killer of teens, and summer is a notoriously dangerous time for young drivers on the road,” said Dr. Kelly Browning, Ph.D. Executive Director, Impact Teen Drivers. “We are pleased to join AT&T in creating this opportunity for teens to create a real impact in their communities, using the power of video, to share their ideas and solutions to help end reckless and distracted driving.”
