Oceanside CA— Last night, Wednesday April 26, 2017 at approximately 7:24 pm., a 41-year-old male, from Vista, was driving his 2003 GMC Sierra northbound on I-5 south of Oceanside Blvd at an unknown speed. For reasons still under investigation, he veered off of the right side of the freeway, down an embankment and across the train tracks on Oceanside Blvd. The vehicle came to rest only after striking a concrete wall near the tracks.
The driver suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Oceanside Airport then to Scripps La Jolla via Air Ambulance.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected in this collision. The vehicle has been removed from the train tracks the collision remains under investigation.
