Suspect apprehended by a San Diego Sheriff’s Department K-9
Carlsbad CA— Last night, March 29, 2017, just before 9:00 p.m., the Carlsbad Police Department was called to the area of Palomar Airport Road and Paseo Del Norte regarding a disturbance between a white male and a taxi cab driver.
An investigation into the disturbance revealed that the taxi cab driver was robbed at gunpoint, had his vehicle vandalized, and was verbally threatened while driving north on the I-5 freeway by a customer. The white male, later identified as Blake Droz, a 26-year-old from San Diego, fled the area before police arrived.
Officers located Droz nearby and he ran from them. With the assistance of San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter and K-9 Unit, along with the California Highway Patrol, a perimeter was established. During a search, Droz was pursued into the courtyard of 705 Palomar Airport Road where he was apprehended by a San Diego Sheriff’s Department K-9.
