Oceanside CA— On Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 10:55 PM, the Oceanside Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call to the sounds of a collision near SR 76 and Canyon Dr. On arrival, officers located a single vehicle off the roadway north of the intersection.
The vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic, was driven north on Canyon Dr. and continued through the intersection. The vehicle hit a curb and concrete retaining wall before going airborne. The Honda was airborne an estimated 80-100 feet before landing on the bike path and rolled over, coming to rest upside down.
Officers found the unidentified driver deceased inside the vehicle. The cause of the collision and other associated factors are not known at this time.
