Encinitas CA— Last night, October 29th, 2016, at approximately 7:40 PM, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to an Amtrak Train vs. pedestrian collision. The collision occurred on the railroad tracks near 1012 N. Vulcan Avenue, in the City of Encinitas.
A northbound Amtrak Train was traveling at approximately 84 miles per hour when the engineer observed an unidentified female run toward the railroad tracks. The train went into emergency braking, but the train struck the female as she ran onto the tracks.
The female was pronounced dead at the scene.
