Residents Should Not Be Alarmed To See First Responders Near Train
Del Mar CA— North County Transit District will hold an emergency drill on Saturday, October 8. The drill will be held along the coastal rail corridor in Del Mar, near the fairgrounds.
The emergency drill will be conducted in cooperation with local first responder agencies, and seeks to evaluate current protocols, guidelines, and inter-agency communications. Residents should not be alarmed to see the COASTER train stopped on the tracks, with emergency crews present.
In addition to the COASTER being stopped for the drill, it will be seen moving along the rails this day, but is not available for passenger use. In order to facilitate rail improvements along the corridor, no passenger rail service will be available between Oceanside and San Diego this weekend and the following two weekends (October 15-16 and 22-23).
This drill is not open to the public. Trespassing laws are still in effect during this training exercise and subsequent weekend closures. Those trespassing along or through the railroad right-of-way may face fines and/or jail time.
