The Same Vehicle Involved in Pursuit, Crash Several Days Later
Vista CA— On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at approximately 9:00pm, a vehicle was stolen from the 3900 block of Waring Road in the City of Oceanside. The owner of the vehicle was flagged down by two males at that location requesting assistance with “jumping” the battery of another car. When the victim stopped and exited his vehicle, the two male jumped into the victim’s vehicle and sped away.
Last night, October 28, 2016, just before 9:00pm, a deputy observed the stolen vehicle with no license plates traveling south-bound on Vista Village Drive. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to yield and deputies began pursuing it on W. Vista Way towards Emerald Drive. After an approximate two-minute pursuit, the driver of the stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle at W. Vista Way and Emerald Drive.
Five people ran from the stolen vehicle after the collision but were quickly caught and arrested by responding deputies. The five people in the stolen vehicle included two adult males and three juvenile females.
Two of the juvenile passengers were treated and released at Tri-City Hospital for minor injuries sustained during the vehicle collision, along with one person from the other vehicle.
The two males were booked into the Vista Detention Facility for multiple felonies related to the vehicle theft and pursuit. One of the juveniles was taken to Juvenile Hall.
