Oceanside CA— It was the 22nd Annual Independence Parade, in downtown Oceanside, on Saturday, presented by Tri-City Medical Center with ‘Volunteers are the Heart of Our City’ as the theme.
Once again the parade was covered live by KOCT. Station Manager, Jake Rush has been covering the parade for 16 years, “Covering this event has become second nature for me but for a lot of the people here today, it will be their first or second time.” said Jake. It took a staff of 17 people, including interns to stream the event live on KOCT’s Community Channel 18 and online at KOCT.org. The hosts once again for this years broadcast were Jim Schroder and Kristi Hawthorne.
The parade will be rebroadcast on Cox Cable and county-wide on AT&T’s U-Verse (channel 99) but the best way to view the replay is Video on Demand at KOCT.org. “With video on demand, you get to see the parade in High Definition.” explained Jake, “We broadcast the parade in HD but currently the cable companies only carry us in standard definition.”
See KOCT Program Schedule for additional July 2015 air times or watch on your smart phone, tablet or computer by going to KOCT’s Video On Demand and click on SPECIALS: Parade.
Below and on the next several pages are snapshots from the 2016 parade. We tried to get something from each of the more than 100 entries during the 2 hour parade but we we’re bound to miss somebody. If we missed you, our apologies. We’ll get you next year.
