Oceanside CA— Last night, Sunday, July 3, 2016, at approximately 11:18PM, the Oceanside Police Department received information that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on SR-76 at the I-5 Bridge. Witness accounts stated that an unknown white female, about 30-40 years of age, darted from the south side of SR-76, running north across lanes of traffic. A 2013 Ford SUV being driven by Michael Foxworthy, 46 years of age, was eastbound from the signal light for the southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Foxworthy was interviewed by officers and evaluated for impairment. Based on the officer’s investigation Foxworthy was taken into custody for driving while under the influence and later booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
The female died as the result of the injuries sustained in the traffic collision. Her identity has not yet been determined and notification to the next of kin has not been made.
The investigation is ongoing. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Accident Investigator Bryan Hendrix at (760) 435-4882.
