Fallbrook CA— This morning, July 7, 2016, at 9:38 AM, Fallbrook Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a house at 2658 Huffstatler Road in Fallbrook on a call of a domestic disturbance involving a suicidal man with a gun. Upon arrival they encountered the resident of the home, Jose Armando Garcia. Garcia refused to comply with commands and walked in and out of his home several times.
As the incident evolved, it was discovered that prior to deputies arrival, Garcia allegedly threatened to kill his wife and pointed a gun at his teenage daughter. Both the wife and daughter eventually left the residence.
Over several hours, deputies and Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team members attempted to gain Garcia’s voluntary surrender. Garcia did not comply and appeared to become increasingly agitated as the day progressed.
At approximately 2:30 PM, Garcia walked out of his house, produced a handgun and fired rounds. At this point deputies fired at Garcia, striking him. Garcia was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition.
This investigation is ongoing and Garcia may face weapons and assault related charges.
