UPDATE: The San Diego County Medical Examiners Office has identified the motorcyclist as Peter Jones Chow, 46 of Fallbrook.
San Diego County CA— This afternoon, June 26, 2016 at approximately 3:00 pm, a 46 year-old male from Fallbrook was driving his 2008 Yamaha R1 motorcycle northbound on South Grade Rd. near Canfield Rd.
For reasons still under investigation, the rider dropped his bike in a curve and was ejected from his motorcycle.
Both the bike and the rider slid into the opposite lane and were struck by a 2008 Nissan Versa driven by a 40 year-old male from Temecula.
The motorcyclist was flown to Palomar Hospital via Mercy Air where he was pronounced dead.
There were no other injuries reported in this collision. At this time it is unknown if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The collision remains under investigation and the riders name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
