Carlsbad CA— On February 17, at 7:08 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department responded to a suicidal subject with a gun, in a residential area located in the 5100 block of Whitman Way. When officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the suicidal subject, to no avail.
Officers set up a perimeter around the residence where the subject lived and began to evacuate surrounding neighbors.

During the incident officers learned that the subject had multiple guns in his possession and the Carlsbad Police Department Bearcat armored vehicle was deployed.
After numerous attempts to make contact with the subject, the Carlsbad Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team made entry into the residence and located a deceased male.
Multiple guns were found at the scene.
The medical examiner responded to complete a death investigation and notify the next of kin.
