Carlsbad CA— On January 12 and 13, 2016, the City of Carlsbad Police Department collaborated with the U.S. Marshals Service and other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to conduct a felony warrant sweep called “Operation Rolling Wave.” Operation Rolling Wave was coordinated by the San Diego Fugitive Task Force. The task force involves more than 50 law enforcement officers from 13 agencies.
The result of Operation Rolling Wave was:
- 20 arrests for various felony and misdemeanor warrants.
- 26 warrants were cleared.
- Over 50 probation compliance checks were conducted.
- Over 41 sex registrants were contacted and checked for compliance.
The mission of Operation Rolling Wave is the promotion of community safety through multi-jurisdictional law enforcement sweeps that target subjects wanted for various serious crimes that include narcotics violations, property theft, violent crime, gang violations, and crimes related to sexual predators.
“The goal of the operation is to use a countywide team saturation approach and to arrest individuals with warrants that pose a danger to our communities,” said Carlsbad Operation Coordinator Corporal Mike Ernst. “Additionally, the operation focused on conducting compliance checks on those persons residing within Carlsbad to ensure they are in compliance with their court ordered probation.”
“This is a great example of what can be done if we collaborate efforts,” said Interim Police Chief Neil Gallucci. “Collectively we can amplify the impact we have on community safety and the quality of life.”
This operation targeted several cities including Carlsbad, Oceanside, Escondido, and Vista.
The Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service, the San Diego County Fugitive Task Force and the Oceanside Police Department for their assistance in making this operation successful and helping to improve and maintain quality of life for the citizens of Carlsbad and their neighbors.
