Part of Chanukah observance this holiday season
Oceanside CA— Rabbi Baruch Greenberg of Chabad of Oceanside-Vista, will ignite a public 15-foot menorah erected at the Oceanside City Hall Plaza on December 7th at 6:00pm.
The ceremony will feature Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood and Councilmember Jack Feller. Following the menorah lighting ceremony, families and friends of the community will join together for celebratory activities which include: eating latkes and enjoying piping hot cocoa, glow in the dark sand art and face painting, and a children’s performance.
This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Rabbi Greenberg shares his insights on the significance of the menorah for Chanukah, for Jews around the world, and families in our community, “The Menorah serves as a symbol of Oceanside’s dedication to preserve and encourage the right and liberty of all its citizens to worship G-d freely, openly, and with pride. Specifically in America, a nation that was founded upon and vigorously protects the right of every person to practice his or her religion free from restraint and persecution, the Menorah takes on profound significance, embodying both religious and constitutional principles.”
Oceanside’s Chanukah menorah is one of the thousands of large public menorahs sponsored by Chabad throughout the world, which serves the purpose of helping children and adults from all walks of life discover and enjoy the holiday message, together.
