Update: The bicyclist has been identified by the San Diego Coroners Office as Eric Steven Glasnapp, a 46 year old married White male who resided with his wife in a home in Carlsbad.
Carlsbad CA— On July 22, at 6:32 p.m., officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to a fatal collision between a minivan and a cyclist on College Boulevard north of Palomar Airport Road. The preliminary investigation suggests that both the cyclist and the minivan were traveling northbound on College Boulevard when the collision occurred. The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. At this time fault has not been determined.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in this investigation. The cyclist was a 46-year-old male who resided in Carlsbad. The identity of the deceased adult male cyclist will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office after the next of kin has been advised. The driver of the minivan was a 34-year-old male.
Northbound College Boulevard from Palomar Airport Road was closed from the time of the collision until 9:30 p.m.
