Fallbrook CA— Sewing needles were found in two “honey-crisp” apples recently purchased from the Albertson’s Grocery Store located 1133 S. Mission Road in Fallbrook.
A customer purchased the apples on March 15th. On the 20th, the customer sliced into the apple and found a needle hidden inside. Although concerned, she did not immediately report her find. The next day (March 21st), upon slicing open another apple the customer found another needle hidden inside.
She took the second apple with her to the Albertson’s Store to report what she had found. Albertson’s removed the remaining “honey-crisp” apples from the floor. They also searched their video archives but did not find any suspicious activity around the area where the apples are displayed for sale.
The Sheriff’s Department was made aware of the crime on this morning, March 23rd. The investigation is open and being conducted by detectives from the Sheriff’s Fallbrook Substation
