Oceanside CA— This morning the Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATT) conducted surveillance of a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup at the Sprinter station located at Crouch Street and Oceanside Boulevard. Detectives in the Investigations Division of the Oceanside Police Department were previously aware of a possible series of vehicle burglaries in which a silver Toyota Tacoma was involved.
At about 10:30 a.m. a suspect approached the vehicle at which time he was taken into custody by RATT detectives. The arrestee, Chris Parnell, was found in possession of a loaded handgun. RATT detectives and detectives from the Oceanside Police Department then conducted a fourth waiver search at the suspect’s residence on Rockledge Drive.
Found at the residence were dozens of suspected stolen bicycles, fishing poles, numerous stolen car parts that appear to have been recently stripped off of vehicles, as well as ice hockey equipment.
Property and Evidence staff were called to the location with a truck to confiscate the property. In addition, Carlsbad Police Department property detectives will be responding to attempt to identify property stolen from their city. Additionally, detectives confirmed the silver Toyota Tacoma was the suspect vehicle in the recent theft of several bicycles.
Detectives are attempting to locate any victims who may have experienced the theft or loss of the property described above. If you believe you are the victim of theft in these incidents and this may be your property, please call Detective Bill Wallace at (760) 435-4892
