Local organizations seeking funding for programs focused on Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating or Career Opportunity are encouraged to apply from January 19 to January 30
Oceanside CA— The Walmart Foundation first cycle of grant giving in California will begin accepting applications January 19, and local organizations are invited to apply for these grants. Each year, the Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations, ranging in amounts from $25,000 to $250,000, all throughout the country, and last year, the Foundation provided more than $2.1 million in grants in California. An advisory board composed of Walmart associates in each state meets to review grants and applications to make funding recommendations.
This year’s focused giving areas are hunger relief and healthy eating and career opportunities. Local organizations that work to alleviate hunger, support and promote healthy eating, or increase career opportunity and development should apply during this first cycle to be considered for a state giving grant. Organizations seeking funding for programs outside of those in the focused giving area and whose programs focus on underserved low-income populations, can apply for a possible grant in the next cycle, which will open for applications mid-summer 2015.
Past local recipients of Walmart Foundation grants include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, Embrace, Arc of San Diego, Turning the Hearts Center, Parent Institute for Quality Education, Angel’s Depot and Leap to Success, among many others.
Funding recipients and decisions will be announced in spring 2015.
